But now I can not get letters when I already have a venture in the star menu.
I try to run annonymus threat and lost compass at the same time but looks like the game will not allow this any more.

It finally dropped after about 35 attempts. I'm delighted and happy to move on to Books now, but still think that it's not fair that there's such a huge gap. While I was desperately trying to get the recipe there were constantly ppl telling me that they got it after just one or two attempts. Kinda frustrating...A maximum number of attempts would be nice, so for example let's say you get it guaranteed after 20 tries or something like that. At least you got something to look forward this way.

Finally today I also got the manuscript recipe, I lost count of how many quests I did, but lately all the quest i was given was Lost Compass which always requires a Codex making as 1st part of the Quest !
I have made about 6 codex for this damned quest though which has tried my patience very much.
When the recipe dropped for me I couldn't believe it as I was expecting another 50 stupid gems.

I am just about ready to quit the game because of this, it is beyond a joke.
I'm on my 43rd to 45th attempt, but honestly as annoying as it is imo no reason to quit the game... Don't give up, mate, eventually you'll get it.
Manuscript first attempt
Can't recall how many times I've done it now and still nada. Bit annoying but fair amount of xp can be got from quest chain at least
