I have quite enough SPAM to delete from my in-game mailbox as it is without adding dozens more every single day!

Getting a mail notification to say a deposit has been depleted when not logged in, or when on adventures (similar to the mails we get when buffs are placed while we are away from our home islands) would be most welcome, however.

I totally agree - the "news" should still update while on an adventure or visiting another island. I don't think I want all the info when not logged in, but when active but "away" would be very nice.

What you need is a guide that shows where all the deposits are and how many of each there are.
Maybe someone can post a decent guide for you. (not the wiki one)

To be fair, it's not just to check the map and then send, as often the geologist has finished it search and getting ready for a new one BEFORE any deposits have shown up from previous search.
As is, you'd better wait a minute before sending out for any long search if you're not sure about the outcome from previous search.

Have you considered how "news" are technically generated?
You know, what ever happens in this game is zone oriented and then filtered by relation.

Ingame-mailed reports from geologists would make sense.
Also, there should be a separate folder for all these system generated reports.

The delay with showing deposit and getting a notification, will not be solved with in-game email, even in-game email sometimes, actually, most of the times delayed a lot before you get notified.

IF, and only IF, they improve mail system, I might +1 this suggestion, so I don't care about it and will be fair for who want it, but in the current system, again -1 for more spam emails.

Already deleted good emails because of those misleading emails, no need to increase the chance to do that again.

That's true. As loss of chat ain't solved by chat history. It's about damage controll/reduction - atleast you'd know a search being finished if there's a report in mailbox when you return to your homeisland.

Aww... but think of the poor little settler postmen who will get downsized due to reduce mail volume. And the poor starving even smaller settler Timmys who won't be having turkey for Xmas.
