XP awarded within an adventure

I'm not 100% sure but I'm fairly convinced that xp awarded WITHIN an adventure as opposed to on completion is not added to my xp total. I started noticing this with the Evil Queen quests which award 7000 xp when you've finished the quest but before you return home. I've just done a Twins scenario for a change & the same thing happened.
Has anyone else noticed this? It is very easy to miss this as, as soon as you tick the 7K, you move to the return screen & home.

all of the xp awarded in the adventure is in fact awarded all at the end, so this is not a bug.
