Maybe these updates should go back to being scheduled for 2am in the morning like in the past, this 2nd extension is eating into the rest of the day too!

Classic Change Management failure, genuine desire to do as much as possible in the change window leading to an extended and unexpected service failure.

rather have it done right 1st time than have them take it back down again later in the week...

well, long time maintenance sound not really cool, you can feel something went wrong and could have side effect to make another maintenance later.

    It is something like:
    1. If maintenance was smooth, scripts ran correctly, no problems for later.
    2. maintenance is hard and extended, the more problems expected and there is a need for another maintenance to fix issues.

Such long maintenance times makes people angry that their islands are unbuffed, mines depleted, quests might not get completed in time, their limited play times reduced. And sometimes the compensation of an exotic fruit basket doesn't cover the costs, just making people more annoyed.

im just thinking is it a global maintenance that could be why its taking so long if all servers are down getting same thing at same time?
or is it just us having it and other servers having it on different day like the old times?

either way i would prefer they took as long as they needed to do it right than have to keep taking game down to keep doing it again and again like we have had in the past.

And I prefer to have a long downtime properly announced , not every 2 h just announce another extension time of the downtime.

tbh i think they underestimated how long they needed so they keep adding 2 hours on hoping it gives them enough time to get it done or have to keep extending it again making it 2 hours longer to hope they have enough time t o sort out what they need to if they can in that time.
