Forum clean up event suggestion!!

Hi BB

this is kinda a different type of suggestions, I think maybe it is good time to have a forum clean up event, what it do:

• First the event will target the active forum members that use the forum in general.
• The target of the event is clean up the forum from old suggestions and bugs that solved or fixed, or already implemented.
• Update the outdated threads and posts and fix them.

Simply the steps:

• Report any duplicate threads to be merged.
• Report fixed bug or implemented suggestion to be closed.
• Fix the exist broken helpful threads and add new content for the specific forums (example this one).
  • The fix for thread could be done with duplicate the thread with the new details and fixes, and reference the original post, so BB can fix the original thread or just archive the old one and list the new one.

From BB side:

• I think verified bugs forum must be merged, archived, or activate it again and move threads to it to be fixed..
• Provide new smiles (like elite troops).
• For sure response to the event reports and suggestions

For sure it is suggestion is open to any more details, but this will make some activity in forum, and make it a fresh, also BB and players can co-op with this "Adventure"

Players will understand the forum more, and will become familiar with it, maybe even give some life to forum, because I really feel sometimes it is dead.


This event could be rewarded with many times of prizes, like most helpful, with some achievements like in game event, something like:

*cough* Gempit *cough* (oh i mean gems)

I mean 500 - 100 gems, maybe some buildings like float residents, improved buildings, premiums and so on

P.S: I know maybe it is a headache for BB_Saqui so maybe first -1 will come from him I think :P

It wouldn't take long til it's a mess again, unless GM is the true director.

As a forum MOD, a lot of the things you suggest are already being implemented. Merging threads, moving threads to their correct locations, closing old threads that have been left to fall to bottom but are being resurrected, fixing broken links, etc. Whilst most of this happens on a daily basis, we also value the support of the players that report any posts that we may have missed. Please continue to report posts that you feel need our immediate attention and relevant action will be taken where deemed necessary.

I can see that Daz, but I really still can many people do duplicates, also I find a lot of duplicates not reported yet, personally I do reports always, for old threads you can see some forums not updated from 2013, broken images, and even incorrect data inside some of guide threads, like here:

So I think this will get some activity to forums, and maybe help BB to sort things here faster.

Maybe motivate people to be positive instead of just ignore the dirt as it is.

I'm not saying you not doing these things, I just suggest an event to motivate people and clean up forums in really quick way.

The event could be unlimited, like 1 player chosen each month as a winner for help MODs, or in limited time (like 1 month) to clean up forum in short time.

Being a MOD means a daily responsibilities, and I don't have time all the times.

It wouldn't take long til it's a mess again, unless GM is the true director.

With the current activity in forums, it will not be easy to get the mess again, also, dealing with a few threads later, better than dealing with huge number of the mess, plus, the players here got a part of this to really flow instruction also to report the duplicates and issues.

Still, GM/CM need to be the director, need to feel this is his/her backyard and want it to be clean.. Forcing and/or temporary doing some efforts won't really solve anything.

It is a rule of nature that forums such as these will get messy. It's a system which will tend towards maximum entropy, with the messiness being down to human nature. As much as the forum mods do a good job there is nothing they can do about players adding more mess daily.

Then there is the question of trust, the last thing we want here is edit wars like have beset a certain famous wikipedia

I sent a set of suggestions to a previous BB at her request and zero happened. First thing that is needed is a section called simply Archive and all the old threads can go in there. There are hundreds of threads that are now (semi) irrelevant. Drop them all into Archive and if people want to access them they can but they don't show up when searching the general forum.
