Other than the fact that they are slow.

I got the idea of buying iron ore instead of mining it myself is because people are selling it. I have tried using ind mines and trying to keep them full but then I was a slave to the game and had to do adventures I didn't want to do just to keep my mines working. Then I tried rebuilding which I have said takes too much time, effort, resources and buffs. Then I thought about buying iron deposits from TO because funnily enough people are selling that too. But its way to expensive. So I buy iron ore and job done.

Its just my way of dealing with iron ore. I'm not saying its the best way or the right way for everyone. But it works very well for me. So IMHO these new geo's are no good for me, but each to their own. The fact that they bring out these new geo's to help with iron ore but for me there is a simple work around making the geo's useless.

Now, if they were to bring out a geo that found twice as many iron deposits at 50% faster mining and an increase of 100% of deposit found all in one and dare I say it, just as fast as a jolly then they'll have my attention. But that's far too good for us.

Once last thing, we have had new explorers which have their own abilities and ALSO they are faster than a tavern explorer. So why are these new geo's not faster than tavern geo's. I think we are being conned lol

Your right Loomy, its their game they can do with it what they want, one rule for one and one rule for another. In the past when they have `conflicted' pre ordained skilled specialist with the skill tree skills and caused confusion with the skills not working together without proper explanation BEFORE players get them. Does lead to those `expectant' players feeling cheated, and the fallout ends up here in forum or chat or players just saying enough is enough and leaving.
The skill tree has been made deliberately slow and therefore the books at all levels are of a high value to the players. Time and again when this sort of thing happens those same players who have skilled a specialist for a specific purpose tailored to their game play, will naturally feel that it was all a waste of time and resource. ( Probably demanding a `free skill reset ! ' ) At this stage of the game the one thing that BB can not afford to do ( unless it is their intention ) is to alienate even more players by repeating mistakes of the past.
If this geo is released as from test then that's BB decision and I'm ok with that. BUT I want to see it made very clear on release of the Dev diary how his skills work especially with regard to the skill tree, then players with less experience can make an informed choice. For me , he's worthless as my Jollies do the job twice as quickly and I have surplus marble and tools to equal the speed of mining on the sites that suit me ( not where BB decides it should be )
Anyway I've said enough, I've not seen anything that excites me and my feedback is simply that this Easters offering is a `dead parrot' that not even Michael Palin can dress up any differently.
Are we to be told of adventure changes or not? 1 Month on and still SNEAKY RB changes have not been mentioned

Still, if this super geo allows other to 4x their production of iron, that should soon affect also iron cost and help you as well.

It would be fun to get an iron mine that can be mined all out in 11h without upgrading it to lvl5.

For granite, a jolly geo can at best give you 4 hours of scheduling time but if it takes a bit more for the deposit to collapse and you have to for example go to work/sleep the deposit will be down until you get back. This can be several hours. With a slow geo you have a time frame of up to 8 hours to time the return happen just after the collapse. Using halloween geo's with their double deposits its even more perfects for all the 7 granite deposits.

    Same flexibility applies to gold.

That's their main benefit as you can see above.

Unfortunately, I will steak a guess that the 8 hours of search time for the new geo's had nothing to do with people going to work etc when they were deciding the geo's stats. Plus, not all searches take 8 hours, so your tailored explanation only applies to granite, salt and titanium. It all boils down to the fact that having a geo with abilities and being quick would be too much of a good thing for us. Also, carefully planning out searches using fast geo's is still better than using the new geo's. There is no benefit in a slow geo, as you can see above. That is my opinion and you have yours. I believe that they didn't want to make these geo's too good and I think they have given us a new feature which is just different but in no way better.

Concerning the new geologist I've been delightfully reading all the debate. So many statements border on absolutes or global declarations. Fortunately most posts included caveats about it being their personal play style that affects their comments.

When you include the variables of player level, play style, frequency of being logged in or active, focus of economy, etc. it's clear there is no way it can be said the new geologist is 'good' or 'bad'. It is just an option.

Of course the stats could be better suited for some players but that likely would not benefit certain other players where this one might. As for myself it's not the top priority but I will certainly get one because it gives me more options. I always think more options is good. Since I'm online and active pretty much all the time I'm awake 7 days a week then more frequent searching for mines that have higher output (e.g. faster) is great - so in the morning when I have the least number of mines I can send out several geos to get things back to the status quo. Then during the day as one wears out here and there I can use combinations of the new geo and the one I have with nature's gift (I like that 10% chance, I use him every time I need just one mine - might combine that skill into the new geo) and again more options of what I look for depending on what I need.

I think seeing some new content is good in general even if it doesn't fit into my personal play style and isn't exactly what I would wish for. Keep the new stuff coming BB - I'll pick what I like from among the offerings.
Sorry, but I've slept since then...

I never said that the 8h time had any relation to work or sleep in terms of design. Slow geo's were always slow and the time follows a simple pattern. What I said was that those are good examples where the long time is most useful as you are away from the game for a long duration. Also the long time does not really matter with the others as only granite is mason based and they will continue the work automatically while the other types would require building mines. A lot of players time granite like this and some have even asked more tavern geo's to be available. I personally already have enough to find all 7 deposits.
