Hello folks - thank you for your patience on this matter! I've just had a meeting with the devs, where I brought forth all your issues, complaints and proposed solutions to the table. I can tell you the following:
    • The devs hear you loud and clear and are taking your feedback into consideration!
    • The new health bar was implemented to be a key part of future content going forward.
    • They're already discussing multiple solutions to the biggest complaints; the health bar will receive attention in future updates. We'll keep you updated on these solutions as they're finalised.
As always, we're still open to further feedback from you guys as this process continues. I will most likely update this thread with news, or make another if it warrants it.

Make sure to see the BB post in the overall feedback for the change. Apparently it's for something coming later but they are talking about it. I hope it's a good talk.
Sorry, but I've slept since then...

Maybe a settings window with different checkboxes would be a good solution, and everybody will be happy, I would / wouldn't like.
If it is a difficult decision because of store extra data on erver, I think all player will be happy with a client side settings (cookies).

Generally I adjust to changes quite well but I do miss seeing the troops in the enemy camp when I hover the mouse over it to send an attack. I'm getting on a bit & my memory isn't so good. Several times I've sent to the wrong camp if they are adjacent & have had to retreat my general or I've had unexpected losses if I haven't noticed my mistake. I'm not bothered about the change to the bar when the attack has started.

Had a chance to play an adventure and i must say im not seeing the negative side effects of not showing troops on attack. Its nice and clear no chance of anything getting in the way. The moment the click for attack is made the troops in the camp appear so its easy to double check if you need to.

That makes me interested! What the heck are these devs cooking in their heads and on their drawing boards that would require such a change of health bar to be a "key part" of it? Any ideas anyone?

Maybe they are planning an ambush tactics whereby you lure the army out of the camp, burn the camp behind their back using backup forces, and then slaughter all the army much easier in an open field battle.

Well that came as no shock, another change no-one requested. What they planning now, no loot, loot depends on kills made, no loot spots, maybe using sense and adding weapons to loot, or even improving coop loot...the list is endless, as is the number of bugs needing attention instead of this sort of tinkering,

I think they own the game, and can do whatever they wish.

Do have to love the way your contributions are always barbed digs at what other players say, and that your comments often contradict each other.
