The queen of the kingdom of Urd was having a drink at the tavern with her faithful general Mario the mma. They talked about the good and the bad times they have had. Now when the queen has thinking about abdicating and go look for a new and more innovative kingdom that might need her help.
Mario did not understand the problem and the queen tried to explain.
Many years ago some very bright innovative DEV gods thought out this kingdom. They thought out the buildings the layout of the island, the science the production chains… even the dangerous and exciting words the generals could go and explore and conquer.
Many of the thoughts was great indeed but not all was finished to the last detail. The Settlers Kingdoms had bugs and things could be improved, but the ideas were good.
But DEV gods does not last forever – new gods came along, and they also had lots of ideas, - some good, some not so good. Biggest problem according to queen Urd, was that they only cared for their own ideas. They wanted to build new big additions to the kingdoms. They had no interests what so ever, in completing and adding to what already was.
That had let to a lot of the problems that now exist in the kingdom:
Besides from the products you can produce in the kingdom, there is now at least 4 ways to pay for secret weapons and tickets to new exciting adventures.
You can pay with map fragments, with gem, with crystals, with star coins. To make the world even more messy they have introduced the crystals shards that is defined as 1/10th of a crystal.
The crystals were a way to trick the kings and queens in the different realms into feeling rich and powerful. But the crystals was worth very little. They did not give the power to buy anything, only the chance to win a tiny fragment of what was needed.
The map fragments are an ancient way of paying – you can’t really use it for anything special any longer – but you still can find more than you ever need when sending explorers out scouting.
You can even win them as one of the very useless prizes in the strange very scary ugly buildings one of the new DEV gods invented. The DEV god that invented that place must have flunked his degree in architecture, or maybe he was blind and just took a picture of his daughters’ barbie house. But it made queen Urd feel that things in the kingdom was no longer balanced. Lots of new ventures could be won in the barbie house, but it was like they were not real, they did not feel right – not like the fairy tales. Even though she knew they were not real either- they were just the right adventures for her kingdom and her soldiers.
She had started to find it harder and harder to do her duties in the kingdom. Sending her scouts and geologists out every day and have no way to skill them for the present world. The DEV God that made the skills was long gone, and the skills needed in the new world was never invented – the new gods did not find it interesting as it was not them who invented the books.
Queen Urd was all in all sad that a great idea had become more and more muddled with too many ideas and good intentions, that did not respect the existing ideas, - that had made the game too messy.
New ideas and new content is great, - but what is the matter with respecting and sticking to the original ideas and respecting the work of your predecessors.
Queen Urd had many more thoughts about what went wrong in the realm and also about what was great, because she still loved her realm, and most of all she would miss all her colleagues,- the kings and queens of all the other settlers realms if she was to abdicate.
…. Urd noticed that Mario was no longer listening to her, he was sitting with his beard dipping into a mug of brew snoring loudly.
