    Dear players,

As BB_Alex already wrote in the test server forum, no TSO2 or HTML5 client is planned. Nevertheless, we have the flash situation in mind and are working on different ways to tackle the problem of the Flash player, which will be eliminated by 2020 at the latest. One idea is a standalone client, similar to the one we are currently using. - We are NOT working on HTML 5 or TSO 2.0. - We are indeed working on a plan for a time when Flash is no longer supported by browsers.

We will not release any HTML5 version of TSO. What will work, however, if the browser doesn't want to run Flash anymore, is our downloadable client. The so-called "Slim Browser". It doesn't make a hole in the system because it can't be used for services other than our game. From that point on, I am sure that there will still be browsers that run Flash, in some kind of sandbox form.

But so far not even Adobe has published its final planning, the browsers (except for a few) have not discussed any changes in the handling of the plugins, Sandbox Flash will continue to exist and we have also noted solutions on our part. What nobody knows yet is if/how or at all Adobe provides Flash in code form, browser, usage release or usage "without support" (known e.g. from Windows XP) and so on. Currently, there are still many possibilities and open points, but that you are already worried about a possible end, is unfounded.

Should there ever be a change at any time, in any form whatsoever, we would inform you about it across all platforms. So far this is not even planned.

    Regards,
    BB_Sious

    Situation has changed since that.

    - No support from Adobe.
    - All major browsers will stop running Flash and won't include the Flash plugin after 12/2020.
    - Flash plugin won't be downloadable from Adobe.
    - without Flash plugin even the "slim browser" doesn't work.
    - Adobe won't license Flash so it can't be distributed as part of any app.

There won't be any conclusive answer on how and if they proceed. If they are working on something, they wont say till they know it works, if they dont look for an alternate solution but just the "sandbox" or the pull plug option, they wont say either as that will lead to exodus

So for them it is a loss whatever they do, if they post it has effects, if they don't post people are upset and it has effects

with not posting at least they keep their option to say: we didn't know yet etc so not posting until stuff is final will be their least painful option

It does sound like the end - 22 weeks until there is no standard browser product that allows flash or any flash related plugin/extension to be loaded.
Every other mainstream flash based game I have played that wants to continue on into 2021 has already released new game versions using alternate technologies.

This "we are still looking at things" feels like we are all being lied to now.
Either confirm - we have something non-flash that we are trying to get ready for 2021 - or admit that we are should all prepare ourselves for a grand farewell party as part of the Christmas event.

posted yesterday from BB_Kumakun on the german forums regarding flash

We have some positive news on the subject and will be discussing it in more detail around September. Until then, please be patient. We would also like to thank you for all your questions and ideas on the topic. This shows us that you really care about the game - us too!
