Lightbulb Practical use of Steadfast General

    Hi all, merry x-mas!

So the steadfast gen is the "new gal on the block" this event. How good is she?

She carries 220 troops, and swift units gain flanking, splash and +20% accuracy. That's nice, but other gens do all this better. So perhaps her unique selling point is her huge (10k) health pool. But how to utilize that? For blocking? I am hoping someone has ideas and is willing to share them here ;-)

    Cheers in advance!

Eh which generals exactly do this better? Knights and mounted marksman gaining flanking is unique and a significant tactical advantage alone in many camps. However on top of that she maxes the accuracy for the most important units without the need of the master planner skill.

HP pool blocking is a dead end for the same reason it was with MoD. Honestly its not worth the time even trying to do the calculations.

without the need of the master planner skill.
Its a natural general for sacrificial purposes, so even without the accuracy bonus youd always take second life over the planner.

    How good is she?
On easy camps shes on par with regular major/ gemini. GIven the unique trait, she opens up nice options of softening hard camps using knights, where previously you had to use MMAs (which kind of sucked for the last few years considering the damage they do is preset, while the opponents HP has gone up significantly). So now instead of MMA you can use this general with 7 knights, and instead of 7 MMAs you can use the same one with 50+ knights. Hardly any cost, and a significant time save.

The problem I have with this general is that its more of the same, in the sense that it provides more optimal way of doing some things you usually do with other niche generals, but doesnt really set the bar higher when it comes to whats the maximum you can do with your army. So say theres new content introduced where enemy camps will be 300-350 units, then a new MG equivalent with 300 capacity would be on par with the strength of the camps, yet all the recent inventions that can barely carry any units would be still reduced to sacrificial generals.

Same kind of a problem as mentioned before with the MMA : if you assume the content will scale up, the units will most likely do too, but preset general attributes wont, so any general that relies more on the attributes than actual unit capacity is left behind.

    if someone plays TOK ,
camp 5 and 8 so far .. for
    - camp 5 u dont have to sac nusala with 180bows .. SF with 15MS and 220MM does it in one go
    - camp 8 , SF with 235K losses only 50ish K .. saves 50MS compared to boris or OGG

This gen has replaced VAR on a decent number of attacks so far in FT advs. Losing 30-40 SW vs VAR losing 40-50 MS
One camp in OL she is the only gen in my set that can win with sac first.

Has anyone come up with a good skill guide yet, I'm finding her very effective without skilling yet!

    Huh?
Didn't even need to do any "calculations".
On a couple of archipelago camps for instance, she did a 15 round and a 24 round block with just 1 recruit. In the 2nd instance I was able to slip past 7 MMAs, Vargus and Nukezilla without breaking a sweat.
Already got her to take over some previously dodgy blocks on SA, WotS and SotV and now trying out some previously unthinkable blocks on several advs.
She's a fantastic blocker, best in the game by a mile.
    We love our new CM.

    Newfoundland: 20th November 2011 to 25th November 2014. RIP
It was good while it lasted.
