The dev team is on it. Some players should be able to cancel this quest in their quest book - if so, please do so and re-login. The quest and the ship will reappear. However, this may not be possible for everyone.
Very frustrating when for a second time a lot of us will have lost half completed quests. I agree with Lordloocan there seems to be no way of cancelling which is in itself not a solution anyway
