Just started playing on newfoundland, saw that it's 80% full, but is the game dying somehow ? Don't want to waste time

I will quote Frank Zappa:
It's not dead but it does smell funny![]()
It's a free online game; you can play for a time, understand how it works that will lead you to love or hate it; after that decision, slow down...give some more time, you'll see good and bad things on the game and maybe if you really want or not spend money on it. That the moment, you'll see and say...yea, game is not opening...I'll have to play something else. lol
and people start leaving Sandycove. 2weeks nonplayable on that server now.
@Da3mon, if you just started, best not to invest time into this.
BB, with such performance, you will continue to lose players faster you can get them.
He is on newfoundland so has none of these issues
All the login/hammerman/locked out issues are with 1 server, sandycove
I cant blame people leaving there - i would walk with those issues and them not being adressed or consider rerolling on a different server
The English servers have been more or less abandoned as we fall under a German server BB for looking after, but obviously that is like 5 minutes every 3 months
Another info I found later, UBI closing down studios on net you can find plan is to close 4, 1 closed in UK, BB dusseldorf on the list with redundancies in January with another 2 (as not closed yet, but 1 closed, 3 sending notices adds to 4 planned).
Edit: O.K. after more reading its closure of one and those 3 seems only layoffs for now.

There hasn't been any proper updates since 2018. The game went through 2 client changes when flash was getting kicked from the internet and in the process they lost the ability to add new content other than copying and pasting existing content.
The likelyhood is the game servers cost nothing to run and people are still buying gems so even in this state the game is still profitable. They probably just want to string people along to maintain this state.
Thta seems the most likely scenario- They can even afford to run at a slight loss to keep a franchise alive - No new content and minimum bug fixing do not cost a whole lot and i bet the only "new" content we see are hobby projects to make failed or incomplete developments run in some way - the problem with hobby content is, that it is developed at available time/wasted time that gets allocated to it- which gets less and less when they reduce headcount
We know they still have some problematic developed content on the shelves that can be "rescued" by cutting out the problematic parts - so there is hope yet that we see a few baubles :P
that's why ubisoft off loaded it for, hopefully who puck it up can do something with it
