Hi, level 14 so pretty new. I have 2 questions.
1) How do you pay eg gold from resources when you're not buying anything?
2) If I need to buff a friend's building, should I buff any old thing? What if they don't want it buffed?

On the bottom of your quest book there should be a button that allows you to pay the requested resources. Be careful that you don't confuse this button with the complete for gems button.
Just ask your friends if you can buff one of his buildings till one says yes. He'll probably also tell which building(s) you can buff
you can always buff wells, and most people have them. If the person likes to keep balance on everything, buffing wells will not make any difference for them.
Where do I get map fragments from?
You can send explorers out on adventures where they will return with map fragments IF they don't find an adventure. Or if you got the Rarity Provision House, which can be bought at the merchant for 3495 gems, you can produce them in there for the cost of simple paper, intermediate paper and nibs. And there's also the opportunity to buy in trade office.

what on earth for?
I have two quests which I can't complete, despite having the necessary items/production.
A new job requires 100 fish, I have over 500, but there's nowhere to click and finish the quest. The same with Theodor gets attacked, I've boosted production as required to complete the quest, but can't do other quests without finishing this one. e.g. I'm not making Steel to save coal and iron. This one just completed.
How can I persuade the game to let me finish these quests?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

1) "A new job" is a daily quest, and as such not required to progress in the game. It might even still being listed as a waiting quest, if so you need to finish the currently active daily quest.
2) "Theodor gets attacked": Many starting players have problems with the quests that require you to balance your production. Read this guide by Gerontius to make sure you didn't overlook something. You already passed some of the other "economy quests, so it might be something else. Just make sure you meet all requirements at the same time.
If the following requirements are all green, and you can't claim the reward on the quest (after waiting a few minutes and reloading), contact Support using the contact form on this page

- Have a production value of at least 0 every 12 hour(s) for Coal.
- Have a production value of at least 0 every 12 hour(s) for Bronze.
- Have a production value of at least 0 every 12 hour(s) for Copper Ore.
Hi,
Defeat a bandit camp using "just 50 cavalry or more", does that mean you can only use cavalry, or can you eg. use 50 cav together with other types of units?
Tnx,
