update - I have now had 60 bells, 78 candy canes and 26 gingerbread - definitely appears to be a shortage of gingerbread compared to the others; and last 3 spawns had 0 gingerbread
ok, but with the best intent in the world, its an event that we participate in at our leisure, you could get more with the 3 spawns a day...
what I'm saying is, is it such a dilema not to get them all? There are many other ways to get most of the stuff in the merchant.
Xmas is the most generous/least effort event that BB give us, and, given the time spent with family etc over the xmas period, I really don't want to moan at them for it
Ehh no you cannot directly use gems to finish achievements BUT look at the added image tyvm.
You can basically buy any missing collectibles (to finish that present) which if you do it several times to finish the presents achievement.
Also while you cannot buy only a specific collectible for gems in the shop you can however buy them this way.
No - you might not like doing adventures - I do.
I find it extremely boring opening these scenarios and putting on buffs. The adventures does include some challenge - if not I would not be playing this game at all.
This is only my 3rd xmas event.

Well, here is my sad collie story. Today I managed to make my first basket of presents. I am now the proud owner of 113 candy canes, 1 (yes ONE) bell and 1 (yes ONE) gingerbread.
There's no way I will make the achievements if my ratios don't change soon.
I seem to be getting an average of 6 candy drops, 3 bell drops and 1 gingerbread each respawn. only managed 1 set of presents so far

ofc u can get gingerbread with gems... see hoverbox on "basket with presents" button in mayor house (collections tab) and there stands (if you have not enough gingerbread, etc) "buy the remaining items and instantly complete for xy "... yes you can buy gingerbread for gems
1. 20.12 : 16 canes 0 bells 0 bread 8 x 2
2. 20.12 : 6 canes 4 bells 0 bread 3 + 2 x2
3. 21.12 : 8 canes 0 bells 0 bread 4 x 2
4. 21.12 : 4 canes 8 bells 4 bread 2 + 4 + 2 x2
