Flash ending in 2020

Adobe updated various pages related to Flash last month. Not only will the support end at the end of the year but the availability will be gone as they will remove the download links and it will be fully removed from other automatic systems like Windows update. On top of that there will be no way to use the flash player to run any content after the end date that unless you are a enterprise customer with a custom support plan. On some site it was speculated mentioned that there is a built in time lock or a server query that will happen after that date and will block the content. This would mean that the Slim browser will not work either unless you use a cracked/tampered version of the Flash runtime.

So, basically, game dies?

joeonthego without no updates from ubisoft/bb ,, i myself will be leaving as i can't go through the same as what happend with anno again : they say no news is good news, in this case it different as the security of your computer is paramount which seems to be a miss with both of them ,,

Yeah BB has previously said that the Slim browser will be the alternative solution after 2020 but that no longer seems like a possibility after the recent Adobe posts. For any other kind of working solution they have said they are looking into them but that has been now said for over 3-5 years without any kind of hopeful information being ever shared. Less than 6 months left and by now they could have had at least share a blog post of possible alternatives they are actually looking into like many other companies did after the original Adobe announcement 2-3 years ago.

It just seems that they know they have hit the end of the road but cannot admit it in public because it would cut all further gem sales down to zero and kill further new player acquisition.

BB has officially said no to the 2. point several times.

yeah and the milking of gems points to that the one on now is the 3rd in 2 weeks ....I remember when it was weeks to months apart now it's weekly ...and it's a shame they couldnt be open and honest

Ok, I don't understand something, can someone explain it?
I have flash player on my computer, I use slim browser. If TSO servers running, I can play for years.

BB break the rules if servers will run after 2020? Why TSO servers must shut down at New Year's Eve?
The flash player will be eliminate itself? OS won't load activex?

No the servers don't have to be closed and BB will not be breaking any rules even if the game continues. One of the problems is that how many people will be able to play after 2020 so it is profitable to keep the servers running. They will not run the servers for a low number of people if only few buy gems and staff/server costs are more than gem sales.

Another issue is Flash. It will be removed from all browsers. Slim browser does not work on linux or newest macos. On top of that Flash will not be available and it might have a built in time lock/server check for 2021. It is also against all recommendations to even use Flash after that date and some people will have no choice but to follow that guideline.

Will Adobe make previous versions of Adobe Flash Player available for download after 2020?

No. Adobe will be removing Flash Player download pages from its site and Flash-based content will be blocked from running in Adobe Flash Player after the EOL Date. Adobe always recommends using the latest, supported and up-to-date software. Customers should not use Flash Player after the EOL Date since it will not be supported by Adobe.

Thx! That is mean I need to download an older version of flash (that is not include blocking code) if I want to play with TSO in the next year? :S

Probably. But then again it does not matter if some people find alternative unofficial ways to play if not everyone will do the same. Lots of people will quit playing and then they will close the game servers. BB needs to make an easy and official way to play or it's game over.

Reminds me when lords of ultima closed online they didnt give much notice on that and all in game currency had to be used up or lost...they have had years to sort this heck even zynga farmville i believe have adapted .....but all we get is they are not closing the game that may be true but no alternative answers have been given so all we can do is speculate from what we can find...cant tell me that hasnt hurt sales prob why we get so many gem sales now.... I have spent thousands on this game and would spend more if i knew it had a few more years self life ...but I do know if we get done over i will never spend a penny on one of their games again ..now that's only a small drop in a vast ocean but i wont be alone in that thinking

they are theft at this moment selling gems like they do

i hope that you guys at development take a consideration for mac users and chromebook users, i play in chromebrowser on my chromebook, and not planning to buy a windowslaptop just for the settlers game, don take this the wrong way, i am addicted to this game, but when i can play on my mac or my chromebook, i'll have to find another hobby, just a shame for all the money i put in

will am playing forge of empires again for a temporary see how i get on with as they seem to listen to their customer base and implemented html5 ,, just goes to show with the lack of no reply how the devs have no respect,, am pretty sure am gonna post on every game forum am registered to, see if we can boycott both ubisoft and bluebyte like we did with code masters and their shocking tactics :D ...

Trafffer has stated in global a couple of times over the last few days that they will let us know when they have something to tells us beyond what we have been told in the past.

Ubisoft bluebyte are not very good at communication just look at past history have they learned anything nope ,, so unless something gets mentioned on both here or their facegay page then i will believe ..

many many months a mod said their where flying pigs don't mean to say i have to believe it again on past history like Anno

Maybe this will bring some rest in this discussion.

i don't see any reason to boycott them, only children in a kindergarten behave that way ;)

It does not as it's from February. Actually it makes things just look more alarming as it's now almost 6 months from that tweet and they were doing the same thing they were doing 2 years ago which is looking for an alternative. At this point of the year as EOL is here in 5 months you should no longer be looking for alternatives but already implementing them as they should be tested and production ready shape in November. Some browsers will remove the support in early December as developers leave for holidays. I say November because they also have to deploy the new solution to Steam and to all servers if it requires more changes than just a new download. At the moment the Slim browser does not even support the Ubisoft login properly but they have not updated it.

Regardless if they have it ready or not there should have been a blog post of what have they picked as their solution or what options they are even looking at as they have clearly said HTML5 will never happen. Two of our guild members with join dates from 2012 just quit the game now in this event due lack of communication and as it looks like the game has no solid future.

I could not agree more. When I first read that tweet way back in February I was very optimistic. But its obvious that to have no more recent assurances can only mean one thing

I will continue to play due to friends i have made here, BUT, will not be investing long term, i remember how quickly they shut down anno-online.

Oddly enough my last post wasn't about putting the game down, but being genuinely curious why someone would consider this, out of all possibilities, the greatest game of all time, especially in a thread about the game creator neglecting to keep that "greatest" game alive.
