Hi,
This can happen sometimes because of problems with the server. It could also be caused by your computer, so make sure to empty your cache and cookies, and update you version of flash.
BB_Azariel
Been there, done that, nothing changed..
If it were the server I think more people would'v mentioned it, so maybe the server?
Edit: The game works on my and my Gf's laptop, but not on my pc, I'm really clueless what it could be..
Updated drivers (my GPU, no need for the others imo), no need to update flash player, in Chrome it's been done automatically.
Haven't got a clue on what it could be.
Pc specs (idk, just want to give as much info as possible)
GPU: Radeon HD 6870 1GB
CPU: Intel i5 (don't know if it's k but doesn't matter so much)
Ram: 8 gigs
Windows Ultimate x64
I have no idea what it could be O_o
We have had a lot of weird bugs since the start and this is one of them. My last suggestion is that you contact the support team: they might be able to help you.
Good luck!

I'v had contact with them but they didn't respon to my last mail .. yet.

I experience similar problems.
At first I believed it to be the browser a person was using, but carrying out tests in different browsers it seems to not be the case. I test Firefox, Chrome and Safari on my MAC and the only two that wouldn't need a refresh or get stuck on the login queue were Chrome and Safari.
I then logged into my windows side via Bootcamp and loaded Settlers up through Firefox, and it worked fine - faster in fact.
I believe it could be to do with the firewall someone uses. Though right now I can't prove that, could just as easily be server side, but if it was, I'm sure more people at the same time would experience the problem. So I'm at a loss to what it could actually be.
It's browser based, the game doesn't affect your pc by downloading something, so I don't think there's a need for the firewall to interfere imo.
It's not the server, because I'm only having this only on my pc, not on laptop so that's not possible..
So..
Cache: Nope, didn't work.
Server: Then all of us would have it, or at least I would'v had it on both pc and laptopt
Browser: Tried 3 so no.
Firewall: Don't think so but could be possible.
... ?

I'm starting to think that it could be to do with graphical lag from the players browser. Whatever they are using is struggling to send and recieve in accordance to the graphical output.
Maybe a feature to be implemented (or tested first) would be to have graphical options in game - low, medium, high. I think this would sort everyones problems out with the login queue and server refresh.
I don't get what graphics would have to do with the log in queue?
I don't know about the server not being able to transfer the data at a proper rate, because that wouldn't go up because of the fact that it works on some pc's, but not on others,..
Little edit: The game worked fine on laptops, I haven't been able to run it on a desktop pc, another angle to look at the problem?

Reply to a message TheUpSide sent me. The message to his reply was pretty much the same as his last post;
"Well because it's constantly saving and sending packets back and forth - sending and recieving. So the browser that is being used by a player maybe taking up a lot of their CPU usuage.
This would affect the exchange between how fast a game is (some people have mentioned the game runs slower - graphically - on MacBooks) and how much it's recieving.
If it's recieving more than it's sent, or vise versa, then the game would run slower.
This may be down to people's Internet connection though, but I have a 2mb connection. Running on my W7 side runs a lot faster - graphically - than on my MAC side.
On my MAC side when scrolling across the map it lags slightly, not a lot, but it's noticeable, and it was in Firefox I'd get the 'Server call failed - press ok to refesh' box pop up, or the login queue failure.
When on W7 however I've only had this once, and that was because my PC went to sleep.
So it shouldn't be the speed of someone's Internet that's a problem (unless they have 56k, lol).
So I think it may be a combination of the browser the player is using, and how much CPU usuage their broswer is taking to run the game, compared to how much of the data is being sent back and forth to the server.
Just a hunch, but it's the only explanation I can think of for these problems."
Could also just be the server and user's sending and recieving rate.
I'll reply here in stead of in a Pm.
I have an Intel i5 with 8 gigs of Ram, you really can't blame my pc not being able to run a browser based game lol.
It has got to do something with the pc, considering the fact it's the only thing not being able to run it.

True that, Up.
Sounding more like server response times now, then.
Then how would u explain 2 laptops can run it, but (as far as I know) my desktop pc is the only one that can't..
Could be servers, but also could be something with the pc (something in options, software missing idk).

I was going to update my post last night about what you've just mentioned.
I'm at a loss to explain it really. As I've said before, I've tested it in 3 different browsers on my MacBook, out of those 3, only Firefox gives me the login queue/ server call failed messages. Yet on W7 via Bootcamp it runs fine, faster in fact, in Firefox without those problems on my Mac side.
Could it be to do with third-party add-ons one has installed within their browser? Maybe blocking certain data being sent to and from the server?
I know in FF on my Mac I have NoScript installed, as well as 2 scripts for MMHK. I have to verify each site I visit and can control wether or not I want third-party sites loading (double-click agent etc), whereas in Safari I don't have anything of that sort installed, and in Chrome I just have the MMHK scripts.
On my W7 side in FF I don't have NoScript installed either, just the two MMHK scripts.
So I'm not entirely sure what it could be. I'm thinking third-party installations in your browser, and very possibly your firewall. I currently have Little Snitch on my Mac which monitors each connection your browser is connecting to, allowing you to 'Allow' or 'Deny'. I'm using MacAfee on W7 side and I don't get prompt for such a response.
I will say that on my Mac side, in FF, with NoScript, I've fully allowed TSO site and forum page. As well as having no denied path in LS (Little Snitch) that access' TSO site.
So, that would throw the firewall scenario out of the window. Leaving third-party add-ons the ones that are doing the damage. Would be nice to get some tests from people to see if this is the reason.
On your laptops, compared to your PC, is there anything installed differently within the browsers you use, Up?
I would love to help you but my knowledge of computers is not that good... What did BB_Ian from support tell you guys?
If Ian answers the tickets, then all he has said is to empty our cache, check our browser version and update through Adobe's site. I've done all these checks but the problem still persists. I'm using Chrome now instead.
Though this little problem does need to be fixed.
I've replied to support with my previous post though. Hopefully we'll get this sorted soon.
I have the same problem. I can't reach the server but get the below.
We regret that the connection to the "The Settlers Online" server failed. Please try to reconnect. Should the problem persist, please visit the homepage and the forum for more information.
Hi Rehab,
This happens with my Firefox and a few others I know too, you can't even create an account with Firefox, it just tells you to wait..... and nothing happens, although the account is created, and you can login with chrome.
If you're trying to login now PeterV, then the game is undergoing maintenance (read the forum).
If you're getting that message while in-game, then you're in the same boat as the rest of us. We can only hope it gets fixed soon. In the meantime however, try a different browser.
Yeah, well I've just got it working by disabling all addons, but now tells me there's no flash player installed, and I have the lastest version.
Definitely FF then. Must be something not responding with their server, firefox, and flash.
Well all I can say is my browser I use for this game is Firefox and I am not having this problem.
Seems to be a problem with Lastpass addon, but still doesn't work when I've logged in, as it says I don't have flash player installed, which I do.
Got it working, Firefox disabled all my plugins when I disabled all the addons... grrrrrrrr....
Ados, does your FF use add-ons at all?
We're slowly getting to the root of this problem.
Hi there.
Can I suggest running the broswer executable (not the desktop icon) as administrator, and if this doesn't help try one or two compatibility modes (just for the sake of some localised variables).
You want the .exe file that will be located in Program Files*/<broswer installation path>
* = x86 if you have it
If on a MacBook?
No, not for .exe. I meant in exchange of .exe as that is executable only by Windows. .dmg is for Mac. I assume the shortcuts I have are direct .dmg links.
Ah, I'm not quite into Mac but I think u should be able to run as administrator, no?
What happens when u run the game in safe mode with internet?
- uP
Well that's weird!
Chrome, TSO didn't work, IE, nope.
Well I just downloaded FF and .. Tadaaa! It worked..
I have NO clue how this is possible, because it worked fine on my laptop's Chrome..
Let you highly developed brains work!
- uP
Up, did your Chrome browser on your laptop have any add-ons? Did Chrome and IE you tried that didn't work have add-ons installed?
Before you just told me about addons, I never heard of 'em, so no.
I am really clueless now..
- uP
Add-ons, third party software that loads when your browser opens; such as pop-up blockers, malware detectors etc, but run within the browser to block or enhance websites.
Hey, just to let you know, I've just gone through disabling my addons 1 by 1 and work out that its Flashblock addon stopping you from being able to login to the settlers accont and not Lastpass.
Rehab: have you got Flashblock addon installed?
