How to make PVP profitable?

A small tier 3 colony takes me about an hour to conquer. So for 6 colonies each producing granite every 6 hours for a week I can make about 16k granite per week. For 6 hours adventuring that's a pretty good return I think. For regular size maps its double and for huge its triple. Here is a screenshot of just small colonies - as each expires I just top them up so maintaining a constant influx of 16k granite per week but leaving plenty of time for other adventures as colonies are so fast to complete.

This has got to be a great way to make a shed load of granite ! What do you all think ?
Why am I sharing this lucrative idea - because I wouldn't mind SELLING some pvp weapons as well :)

Even with all that granite it wont lure players over! The majority still has no idea how it works. There's no real guides out there to follow.

What you say is absolutely true. For me a lot of the fun was figuring out HOW it worked as I went along , making silly mistakes but then learning from them. For players who want exactly the same map with exactly the same camps and so exactly the same attacks to send each time maybe its not for them. Because of the randomness of expedition maps it doesn't lend itself to `guides` for which I am grateful as it will keep me interested as its a different challenge each time. Effective blocking was a big step forward for me dramatically reducing military casualties. Also knowing when to do an effective intercept/retreat was important as the marshals are so speedy that by the time you have clicked retreat they have already started ( and lost lol ) the next battle. And when its laggy ...... time to play normal adventures :)

Btw from my experience - the lag on the colonies is random.U can have it on 1 colony, but on the next one (stared few minutes after the "laggy colony") there is no lag :)

So the Majority still have no idea of the basics in TSO battles. Pv? is optional, so all this player have a choice - they can spend some time and efforts to learn this basics(not so hard), or not.
Also after the massive moaning how hard is the Pv? , BB have done a big mistake making the expedition troops almost same in price - and that killed most of the fun in this new feature.I hope that someday they will correct this mistake....

How to get back to Tier I maps in PvP?

I would love to have random tiering of maps on a search. You have tier 1, then move to whole screens of tier 2 and then screens of tier 3. Why not totally random?

I have just had my first screen of tier 3 and didn't have enough troops so no colony for me today.

I really don't nderstand why we cannot have some choice in what we attack. Yes we can choose resource type, but sometimes you would like easy and sometimes hard

Grimhurst lucky you. When i have colony with granite, most offen i have no granite from it, because i'm playing evening and after 6 hours from conquering i'm already sleeping and next day colony is conquered by another player. Pv? is verry easy, only bad thing is that lags. But i can play with it, just need more troops for blocking. Also troops are for good price now, so you can make profit. But hold colony for more than 1 day sounds like dream to me :-)

They broke the reduce-tier mechanics a short while ago so I am not sure if this still works 'as stated'...
Seek a colony... activate... visit... cancel (7 times - basically 7 'failed to defeat') = drop one tier

There is a chance they might be tweaking it so you have to attack or at least send a marshall... hopefully not 7 times though

I mostly agree yeah.
Tiers were probably added to keep the experienced players away from always just attacking new tier 1 islands - basically protect the newer Pv?'ers.
If just random, I think the experienced Pv?'ers would still often elect to attack a tier 2 or 3 as the troop-losses vs resource-levels make it worth while.

I too find granite islands are the most attacked ones... so easy to win, not easy to keep for more than a day though.

Titanium ore (selling at around 3gc per piece (half the worth of granite)) islands seem better economics if you ask me ;)

I have had granite colonies run out - i.e. had them for 7 days. The one I have now is 3 days left.

BUT I lost two granite recently, one of which I had for a few hours, so random.

All this in case none of your colonies' being captured by another player. From my perspective Bandit Nest is relatively easy to do adventure that gives a handful of a granite, combine it with premium and you might have 16K+ granite with prolly 10 of them. Time-wise it'll take a bit longer than 6 hours to complete all of them but still shorter than a week.

From my "research" - I conquered 24 colonies, with only few cancelled (lets say 5 to 8 cancelled). I never get to Tier 3, most of my fights were at Tier 2.

I started to "try to drop" and had to cancel (search, attack, visit, cancel procedure) about 15-20 expeditions to drop to Tier I.
In my case and opinion it looks that you drop to Tier 1 when you have more loses than wins. In the other words - your win:lose ratio is worse than 1:1
I hope BB explain Tier system (but I'm sure BB never even try to explain it). Lol

BTW - The only reason I want to drop was to do 1-hour achievements more easy :)

And comparing PvP vs. adventures - adventures (especialy with short guides) are just boring. Making the same thing 10, 20 times in the row... PvP maps are random enough to have more fun. Especialy with counting own blocks which was pre-made in guide based adventures. Fast generals are nice improvement too (1s/tile speed makes counting the own blocks quite easy).

Hope I'm never bored enough to consider counting blocks fun.

Just an update on speed of completing small tier 3`s ; I said it took me about an hour for each one but that includes going back and forth doing usual island maintenance - rebuilding mines etc etc. Guildie just completed a tier 2 in 23 mins so I thought I would check my time if I gave it 100% concentration - managed to do it in 16mins 30 seconds ! ( start to finish ) Almost as fast as it takes me to finish my first coffee of the day :)

I love PVP / PVE / PV? - or whatever it is lol

I thought I would update my colonies as well.

Took 4 tier 1 small colonies yesterday. Two have gone already. Had both about 20 hours. One was tit ore the other granite.

The strange thing yesterday was that after 3 hours (i.e. within the 12 hour protection) I had the red exclamation mark to say two of my colonies were under attack. Just a bug I am guessing but I have reported.

So all in all, very hit and miss. But keeping for less than a day something that took about 200 troops to take is not great.

All adds to the evidence of how flawed PvP is. An when they add ranking systems etc. more people will probably play so keeping islands will be even harder/shorter - I don't trust the developers to implement correctly by saying adding more bandit islands.

Update: just lost the third one. Yep, still within 24 hours.

So easy (lvl1) small colonies not worth the hassle. Mind you, I only did them as I was aiming to build my Combat Armoury to lvl5 so didn't have enough equipment built to take many colonies.

That's your opinion :). MCL you are friend of mine(at least i think that), but sorry mate - you are doing the same like TGF, because you don't play colonies so i think that you just guess here. You know me, and how often i play Pv? so i' m telling you that you are wrong. Yes you can do BN adventure and MAYBE :) you will make more profit but ONLY if you are premium and ONLY if you are lucky, and the most important - you will play the SAME adventure again and again....

Please guys be so kind and don't write about something that you don't understand, because you don't play Pv?. Or if you write think before doing it! You don't like Pv? and it is obvious - but there are threads where you can write that you don't like it, and why. This one is not about that!

I'm making a lot profit from colonies from long time (atm ~2.2K granite and 750 titanium ore daily) and my advice for all players interested in colonies is - if you want profit , better stay on tier 1 and take huge colonies! And also is very important - use your brain, when you make the defences (camps and troops) because if you do it you will not loose your colony so easy.

Second part of your reply doesnt make much sense though.

Is it still possible to drop down tiers? I have started, visited and cancelled coming on thirty tier 3s and still stuck there?

So how do you make profit on a colony when you hold it for 9 hours before losing? Yes, 9 HOURS. Not the 12 hours of protection that you are supposed to get.

Same has happened to me a few times - its a bug. Send support ticket in. More tickets means higher priority for fixing.
Have also noticed that occasionally I have conquered an island with no defences on it at all. No defences means its far more attractive to a potential attacker.

I reported it and the usual we are aware and investigating response.

Meanwhile, it makes an already unattractive part of the game even less attractive - if that is possible!

It's fixed in next weeks game update. Check the release notes.

But what will they break when fixing it?

And now I have used 1k troops getting to a boss camp and I cannot attack the boss camp.

So 1k troops and all the resources just wasted.
