If you build a coppermine but remove it before it is actually build (to free up a buildqueue slot for example) the vein dissapears and needs rediscovering.

This is intended.
Once a mine runs out, you have to send your geologist out to find the deposit again. Even if you've destroyed the crumbled mine.
