Tree stumps

My apologies if I've posted this in the wrong area.

I made the mistake of building lots of pinewood and hardwood foresters early on in the game and they've run wild across my island planting trees to the point that I'm not starting to find it difficult to find places to build new buildings.

I've now snoozed the foresters and the cutters are doing a great job of cutting down the trees but the stumps don't seem to be disappearing.

Will they eventually disappear or have I stuffed the game up?

these places are preset and will not dissapear,you are not able to use this space for anything else ,only trees.
