for different reasons I have to use the Sparkles which I bought for gems to find my collectables. These last few days i find that I am left with 1 or 2 collectables which I do not find for some reason.

I used to have the same problem, but have found that the following strategy works for me almost every time now:

1) Zoom out so that about 50% of the island width is visible across the screen, then work up from corner to the top using the arrow keys; then leap the top and down the other side similarly, while clicking on every collectible you can see - I find sometimes than it requires two or even 3 attempts clicking a collectible before you get it. This typically gets 80-90% of them.

2) At the same resolution arrow left; leap up then right; leap up then left again repeated until the whole island is done - after this there is usually that tricky one or two remaining.

3) Zoom in close, then work around the whole island methodically again (doesn't matter whether up/down of right/left). Almost every time you should find the missing one(s).

I find it really helps to get someone else to take a look - it seems as though merely someone visiting your island seems to make that last elusive collectable appear - sometimes right out in the open where you're sure you looked. It may well be coincidence, but it works for me!
