Not quite sure what's going on here. When I visited a buddy to buff them I noticed one of my fish platters in the star menu had gone up to 26, when I returned home it had gone up to 27 (not that I'm complaining)

It's just lag and that number is not real. It happens almost every time when you buff your friends.
it was strange because it wasn't the buff I was using. An hour later having had to log in again, it's changed to two platters of 25 & 2. Maybe this is when you try and buff the same building twice due to lag and it gets refunded. Perhaps this is related to the issue that people are reporting of losing buffs when they visit buddies
