    Random improvements for generals?

    This is something that has been on my mind for a while now. I've been playing Darkest Dungeon during EA and there is this feature that after a mission the heroes will get mostly random positive and negative characteristics/quirks, e.g. healing faster, afraid of catacombs, consuming more food, dealing more dmg in certain surroundings, etc. [Removed] Ofc these quirks have a big influence how heroes interact, which then again has impact on their decisions and outcome of fights.

    A system like this would be probably too complex for TSO, and I doubt it could be coded into the current state of game. However, the basic idea remains, adding a feature that can work similar, without causing imbalance for fights and such.

    For example, if a general fought 100 battles he could get some sort of promotion, maybe travel % faster to adventures, or having a small chance of getting % more of reward X, or things like that. The promotions/improvements would be random so there would be no way of knowing what one will get. This would only apply to normal gens. The amount of improvements would be limited, say first promotion after 100 battles, next after 1000, etc. with a maximum number of promotions of 3-5 (to keep it balanced). So after let's say 1.000.000 battles the normal gen got 5 random promotions which make him very special compared to other normal gens who got fice totally different improvements.

    In theory this sounds quite fun to me, because there is more focus on what gens to chose for certain adventures to actually fight (not just bring troops). It would also add a bit more "realism" meaning gens getting better at certain things after doing them over and over - and since every gen is a different "person" they develop differently - one is an explorer type, the other one just knows the shortest ways to islands, the other one can regen faster due to medical knowledge, etc.

    This is quite a new concept and probably will never be done, but I'd like to hear what you guys think about this.

    Please don't post non-TSO links.

    There was rumor of skills for generals much like those for geologists and explorers. That method would fit in better with the Settler's framework.
    Sorry, but I've slept since then...

    @Xibor

    Never heard of it. I assume they put it aside for reasons.

    original info here

    specifically states 4 skill set.

    Geo
    Explorer
    Generals
    Home Island

    Would like an update from the devs on the last two - has this been shelved or can we expect something soon?

    we got specialist generals after the general science was announced so thats probably shelved. Island skills would be nice though maybe 1 that removes a % of all the bushes etc..

    nothing in principal against generals getting promotions, but only in a cosmetic sort of way. It would probably appeal to players who play a lot to have some 4 star generals.
