-max number of mines reached
-send geo for mine search
-a mine depletes during geo-search
-geo finds no new mines

Interesting question ! If a stone deposit becomes depleted , it should be possible to find one. Might be a time lag problem ? Did the next geologist you sent looking for stone find it ?

As far as Im aware he wont find any mines that werent empty before he starts his search,unless they have changed that

Sorry but this is incorrect, i regularly send out my tavern geo (4 hour coal search) when my level 3 coal mines are at 200-300 (i.e will last for 2 to 3 hours) and when i log back in the next day a shiny new deposit is available.

I have however found that jolly geo's have a tendancy to go wrong when this is attempted and they won't find the deposit regardless of what your searching for whether its stones, copper etc
