I found it slow in the beginning too, but that was because I was actively playing it, now that I log in only few times a day and do other stuff the rest of the day I find it goes much faster. When I log in I got plenty of resources to play with! And the sound effects are perfect (much better than other browser games) they actually alert you when something is finished.

As btog pointer out im not strangers to web games. And again understand the meaing of tutoriol. My argument is not that there should be no toturial. My argument is that 3 days is to loong. 1 day is more then enoughe. so it should thake 3 times faster to get to level 16. after level 16 i have no clue since im not there but since the game startes realy there and you start to make real choices. I have no problems that borwser games takes a loong time but that is only after the real gameplay starts.

As for kingdoms i toled fc the start was to slow he did not listen, i found that game to realy boaring. and from what i undestand they have hade only limitied succsess withe that game.

Funny you'd mention that, for I got a whole different experience with most browser games. While this one stands out from the rest, most games that make you build up your resource fields, build buildings and eventually an army go way faster then this. ^^ It could be due to the clearer overviews on how many resources you get per hour, and they didn't had any functions like an Explorer and so but eh. Settlers online is in my opinion one of the slowest browser games I've played.

Does that make it bad? Not at all, I love it. I just got surprised by your opinion. Travian, Ikariam, Ogame, Imperion, and many more, were/are much faster. The unique functions on Settlers however makes this one truly stand out and be a lot more enjoyable.

Regarding the tutorial ; I've got to level twelve on my first day, sixteen on the second. I didn't had the Anno voucher or extra resources so I think it's quite doable. I do wish it would give resources for completing quests instead just a load of XP but without the XP gain Settlers would be impossible to advance in. (Due to buildings being level restricted)

All I can suggest is, build more masons, build more woodcutters and sawmills, my storages are overflowing with resources and now at level 16, I got nothing to spend them on apart from troops as I need the XP from bandit camps to advance further.

So, I'm a bit mixed on the stance. The tutorial itself is for me fast enough, resource rate as well but XP from bandit camps seems to be what's slowing me down at this moment. You take heavy losses, which take time to rebuild, which slows the process even more for that little XP gain per bandit camp cleared. Maybe they could look into that instead? All in all, I already like the game more then likewise games, I just wish the whole attacking process went faster and smoother. (Losing units due to the enemy being allowed to attack despite already dead on the first hit is one of such things, but that's fit for an other topic. )

Well I have always complaind at the speed of Heroes Kingdom's, being two slow but for me in this case the speed of settlers is just fine, as I am new to the settlers games I would prefare it to be the speed it is rather than being any faster while I get a feel for it :-)

I would like to chime in.

The tutorial is very slow. It wastes time like nothing I've ever seen before. The geologist is four minutes of sitting there doing nothing for the first time (ten the second), the explorer is a staggering 10 minutes. There's no reason why the game could not be more efficient and get you to multi-task a little. Heck, there's a whole seven minute gap - for me - between the explorer finding the new sector and me claiming it, because the building of the storehouse took so much time. I don't mind slow, but for the most part I'm not learning anything. I'm sat there waiting for things to happen, and that's not engaging me or putting anything to use. Why can't it set your geologist off, for example, whilst explaining something else?

The pathing of the AI doesn't help, either. I noticed that the builder was doing a serpentine all the way, which is massively inefficient. I understand it's isometric in view, but surely the pathing could be improved? That would speed things up a little.

There's no way you 'don't' to the tutorial due tot he fact u need to unlock buildings by raising in levels, and it or those buildings u get exp. for by the tutorial.
E.g. when building the first building you have to build the only one u can build, by that u do the tut quest and so on.

That has nothing to do with the tut.. That's just the game, u don't like it? Too bad, but that's the game.

The thing is that it takes to long from you start to where you get to make the choiceses of what you want to do. The game dosent realy start until level 16 where you start to realy play the game.

I have to agree with Psychyn here.
It's the battles that need the real improvements. It's a pain being attacked and losing troops when you've already killed the bandits. Their souls taking one final swing, maybe?

The pace of the game is fine as long as you build enough resource buildings to accommodate for all the other buildings.
Building Fishermen to make buffs is also a great way to boost your production earlier on.

In all I find the pace of the game is dependant on how many resource buildings you've built, as well as the use of buffs (for early development).
Do it right, the game doesn't feel as slow. Or, stop sitting in front of the screen for hours waiting for things to be done. Go and do something else, then it won't feel as slow. (Not directed at you btw, Psychyn)

Hi, I have to disagree with all the whingers who are complaining about slow tutorial. I have played Settlers and own every version, from the 1st ever on the Amiga. That said, there are players who are just joining and have no idea how to play. I was given a long intro to the game at the start and with every version after, I knew how to play blind folded by Settlers 7, but a new player would not, so chill out and just enjoy the game. Hell it's free....
