As far as changing the system, I have two thoughts:

    1) There is no reason why anyone must have the manuscript recipe to play/succeed. You have a book binder. It can get the job done. If you want to invest in buffs for it you can speed things up. And in the book binder it costs less.

    but

    2) Other recipes for the provision houses were available guaranteed for a fixed price. It seems interesting to me that the book recipes are random, therefore slightly inconsistent. If it was up to me, I would make each chance cumulative so that you were guaranteed to get it eventually - perhaps something like 2% 1st time, 4% 2nd time, 6% 3rd time, etc. up to 100% - or whatever increment would make the most sense to the devlopers.

I'm in the situation of not having it (yet) while my wife already got it, so it's especially annoying to me for that reason alone. But I can't forget point 1 above. Not having the recipe doesn't mean I can't make books, so I just have to do the best I can. (I have an Epic Farm and she doesn't so I can tease her about that )
Sorry, but I've slept since then...

I already have all 25 scouts/explorers and 5 jollies fully upgraded (at least 5 codex on each) within a few months b4 they destroyed the drop on BN. My concern is for the upcoming general tree, It will take years to upgrade 30 generals (which I assume most veteran's have) unless u have that manuscript recipe.

I can guarantee it's just become a big deal to get your hands on it, it's not worth quitting over but can become infuriating. Just ask the German guy with 73 attempts if he think it was important enough, lol.

I'm sure if the recipe was available for gems in the merchant chest it would sell instantly (just an option)

Yes...it is frustrating. 40 attempts to date, but not worth quitting.

Took Me 27 tries to get the manuscript recopy. It was frustrating indeed, but i am happy i did get it eventually.

40 tries is really a bit harsh. But i don't think BB will do anything to change this. They force many frustrated players to use gems on excelsior with their lower drop rates.

On the positive side i can say that i did in the process make allot of XP from the quests/adv's.

Do Bart the Barterer. Tome every time (takes me 5 manuscripts to make a tome). Better than making the manuscripts to change into tomes.

Its getting very frustrating now after so many trial still no recipe and its very very unfair while some players with a few tries got the recipe. BB shall consider putting the recipes in shop so we can buy them with gems as an option. Alternatively, BB can also consider a cue system on book binder so we can produce manuscript, tomes, codex continuously.

Like being able to have a bunch queued for unexpected down-times
